Facebook applications are still relevant?

January 23

Hi, thanks for the visit - hope that you will find useful information. Leave a comment but if you have any comments on the subject.

Facebook is indeed everyone's lips at the moment, however the 3rd party Facebook applications still hyped by some while others almost predict the imminent death of this.

Facebook applications are generally a wonderful thing and the idea was then brilliant. Meaningful and creative applications are also set nachwievor helpful. Meanwhile, however, the open standard is increasingly becoming a hindrance. The fact that almost anyone can create an appropriate application must be made for many purposes, dozens of applications that more or less the same available. This is precisely the danger. First, it is increasingly difficult new and unique applications to be developed. It must also consider now a clear strategy to market the application to stand out from the multitude of applications. For what makes the best use when it benefits no one?

Another problem is the spread of the user dar. Through many similar programs users are distributed. Currently, I have found, for example, about 70 programs on the term "Travel". This means a user who is interested in traveling to watch maybe 2-3 trip applications and in the end max. 2, probably use only one. Exactly this effect is, in my view a contradiction to the basic ideas, community, information sharing, etc. There are many different mini dar. platforms created all united together, represent a great tool for users and operators would. Therefore, almost all applications tend for themselves to remain relatively small and thus insignificant.

Does that create a Facebook application still make sense?
My opinion is that it may make sense. It should, however, consider very carefully whether any can be personally meaningful for him.
This should include the following criteria be met, at least in part:

  • Innovative concept, USP
  • Added value for the given user must be clear and
  • , Suchtkarakter muss gegeben sein Viral Component: Weiterempfehlungsfeatures, Suchtkarakter must be given
  • , Bonus für die ersten 100 Nutzer, etc.) Marketing concept to create (Apply on Facebook, entry in the application directory, bonus for the first 100 users, etc.)
  • Monet linearization approach, goal definition

Conclusion:
It is novel concepts and related applications to develop ever more difficult. Do you manage this, however, it can be a great benefit to be generated from it. Burger King's has demonstrated. But, if you think you sometimes quickly created an application because you come in on the oh-so innovative Facebook it shall be made, should rather leave the hands off.

Burger King guerrilla campaign on Facebook

January 12

Burger King has launched a new campaign: "Sacrifice 10 friends on Facebook and you get a burger".

This new burger called the "Angry Whopper", which is a regular price of 3.69 dollars is advertised. One could argue then that a friend on Facebook is worth 37 cents.

Burger King made specifically for this action to develop a Facebook application with the name "Whopper Sacrifice". This application must be friends "to be sacrificed" in order to get to the voucher.
The former Friends will receive an information that they would be for the voucher recipients less value than a burger.

Crispin Porter + Bogusky, the agency calls whose pen this campaign is created. Creative Director Bob Reilly speaks of a high burden to 10 friends to select and delete. He comes from a time expenditure of one hour. During this hour of fast-food fan with the Burger King brand is experiencing.
Around 185,000 Facebook users have already sacrificed so far for a Whopper.

Conclusion:
In my view this is a nice idea by the successful implementation, could generate high media attention. However, I see the hour for the deletion of friends has been targeted as much too high. Many Facebook users have some "data bodies" in their contact list. As for other applications must often be recruited as many friends represent, then grateful victims in exchange for burgers.
But Burger King has managed to stand out there from the 100enden Facebook applications and get media coverage, so you can talk to each case of a successful campaign.
